Interactive theme-based online learning tools and curriculum designed to serve Washington students on a statewide level, to "directly and measurably impact teacher and student responses to state-prescribed learning requirements in social studies." Online learning & lesson plans cover the following themes/units: The Treaty Trail - U.S.-Indian Treaty Councils in the Northwest, Lewis & Clark in Columbia River Country, Leschi - Justice in Our Time.

Online humanities resources and lesson plans. Navigate by Subject Categories, Lesson Plans, or Websites. You can also do a keyword search - a search for "Native Americans" (w/out quotes) leads to relevant resources, including: Common Visions, Common Voices; Not 'Indians,' Many Tribes: Native American Diversity; Traditions and Languages of Three Native Cultures: Tlingit, Lakota, & Cherokee; and more. In addition to searching the ESITEment web, the search also includes resources from:

  • ArtsEdge, National Arts and Education Network, program of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts - "offers free, standards-based teaching materials for use in and out of the classroom, as well as professional development resources, student materials, and guidelines for arts-based instruction and assessment"; and

  • ReadWriteThink, International Reading Association (IRA), the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), and the Verizon Foundation - "practices and resources in reading and language arts instruction"
